The Gibson Artist Spotlight Program welcomes Corella

Formed in Manchester, Corella came together over a shared love of electrifying indie rock, drawing inspiration from Bloc Party and Foals

The Gibson Artist Spotlight program is proud to showcase an evolving roster of new musical talent across Gibson channels globally. Following recent additions KO KO MO, ASAKA, and Charlotte Sands, the latest addition to the program is Corella, from Manchester in the UK.

Formed in Manchester, Corella came together over a shared love of electrifying indie rock, drawing inspiration from Bloc Party and Foals. Lockdown livestreams turned early chemistry into a devoted following, and their debut album, Once Upon a Weekend, earned them BBC Radio 1 airplay and a fanbase that’s only grown since.

Now the band returns with their thunderous second album, a record that sharpens their sound and dives deeper into themes of vulnerability, loss, and resilience while capturing the lightning-in-a-bottle energy that defines their live performances. We caught up with Ben Henderson from the band to find out more.

How would you describe your music?

“High energy, feel good alt/indie rock. Something that gets people moving and is contagious. The most recent stuff maybe leaning into more of a gritty and rocky sound that has more of an edge to the happy-go-lucky previous indie sound.”

What is your favourite piece of Gibson gear that you own and why?

“A staple and central piece of kit from Gibson would probably be the ES-335 that we got around a two years ago and is used almost all the time for live and in the studio. It’s a classic and timeless guitar with an amazing full-bodied tone and solid feel to it, something that’s helped shape our sound on records and in venues. An all time favourite for us.”

What has been the highlight of your musical career so far?

“Pulling one singular moment is a hard task to do, but some top moments would have to be Rock Werchter in Belgium last summer in 2025, an insane show and turnout! Another would have to be playing main stage and Reading & Leeds, a bucket list moment for us all—many more to come!”

What would be your dream artist or producer collaboration, and why?

“Dream artist to collaborate with would possibly be Foals or Kings Of Leon—we’ve been heavily inspired by these bands from the start and reckon we could write a good few bangers with them.”

What does being part of the Gibson Artist Spotlight program mean to you?

“Being part of the Gibson family is insane for us, one of the biggest guitar legacies in history and we get to play the best of the best guitars. For us, we lean on Gibson’s guitars and engineering quite heavily for our sound and image, something we’re really proud to represent.”

What's next on the horizon for you?

“2026-27 for us will be a new chapter, we have a new album being released this year with songs that are an exciting departure from our previous sound. Lots of new music to be released throughout the year with a busy touring schedule to coincide with it. We’ve just finished up a UK tour with Kaiser Chiefs and will be announcing further headline shows in the coming weeks—a busy and fun year ahead for us!”
