Custom-finished Hummingbird Standard
This Gibson Custom Select Hummingbird™ Standard features a custom Deep Purple finish with gold tuning machines. Gibson Custom Select offers instruments with customized features that aren’t available from the normal Gibson lineup. Gibson experts design these guitars in-house with a keen eye for detail. Made in small batches in Bozeman, Montana, these acoustic guitars receive custom treatment with a Custom Shop decal displayed on the back of the headstock. Previously exclusive to the Gibson Garage Nashville, this Gibson Custom Select Hummingbird Standard is dressed in a custom Deep Purple finish on the top, back, sides, and neck of the guitar while featuring a set of gold Grover® Rotomatic® tuning machines.
The Gibson Hummingbird has been in the Gibson lineup since its introduction in 1960. For over sixty years, the Gibson Hummingbird has been a dependable guitar for singer-songwriters across the world. Common features of the Gibson Hummingbird include a Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish, a bound fretboard featuring split parallelogram fretboard inlays, a fixed-saddle belly-up bridge, and the iconic Hummingbird pickguard. While the Gibson Hummingbird was introduced with an adjustable saddle bridge, modern iterations of the model feature a more conventional fixed-saddle bridge, such as the one that is featured on this Hummingbird Standard. Each Hummingbird pickguard is hand-painted with the bird, flowers, and foliage, a detail that is specific to the Hummingbird. An inlaid crown and Gibson logo finish off the headstock of the Hummingbird.
This Gibson Custom Select Hummingbird’s customizations include a Deep Purple finish and gold Grover Rotomatic tuning machines with kidney buttons. The Deep Purple finish is featured on the top, back, sides, and neck of the instrument. To make the instrument feel even more deluxe, gold tuning machines replace the nickel tuning machines. Tonewoods on this guitar include a solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, and a rosewood bridge and fretboard. This is the classic recipe that has made the Hummingbird so versatile and popular over the decades. The neck is fitted to the body with hot hide glue and features a Rounded neck profile. Loaded with Baggs VTC electronics, this guitar is ready to be played on stage through a PA system or an acoustic guitar amplifier.
Featuring a custom Deep Purple finish with gold Grover tuners, this Hummingbird is a modern and unique take on one of Gibson’s most famed models. Included with the guitar is a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity and a hardshell case.
