Epiphone The Journey, with Kitty A. Austen from Saint Agnes

“My first guitar as a kid was an Epiphone Les Paul Junior. I would play that and dream of playing big stages. Now I’m doing that and Epiphone is still with me.”

The latest instalment in Epiphone’s The Journey video series features Kitty A. Austen from English industrial rockers Saint Agnes. Like previous episodes with Reuben Moonasar from Dead Air and Jiri Taihuttu of De Nachtwacht, we follow the Saint Agnes singer/guitarist behind the scenes and backstage as the band rehearse and head out on the road for festival shows. Austen also discusses the deeply personal inspiration behind their music.

Armed with the uncompromising Epiphone Explorer™ 80s EMG, which Kitty describes as “the kind of guitar that should be played at big shows,” she reveals how Epiphone has been by her side from the very beginning of her career in music. “My first guitar as a kid was an Epiphone Les Paul Junior,” says Kitty. “I would play that and dream of playing big stages. Now I’m doing that and Epiphone is still with me.”

These days, Kitty is so attached to the look and tone of the Epiphone Explorer 80s EMG, it’s practically an extra limb.“The Epiphone Explorer is an iconic looking and sounding guitar,” she says. “It’s like a limb to your body. The EMG™ pickups on the Explorer are exactly my kind of pickup; they are high output and incredibly unsubtle, and that’s how I play guitar!”
