A true icon of rock history, the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson SG™ Bass returns with a refined update that enhances playing feel and modern usability while preserving the unmistakable tone and attitude that defined generations of music. Inspired by the legendary EB-style SG basses of the 1960s, which were famously played by some of the era’s biggest artists, this model delivers the powerful low-end response, midrange punch, and fast playability that made the design a go-to for stage and studio use alike.
The SG Bass features a solid mahogany body with deeply carved edges, making the design so comfortable to hold and play. The glued-in mahogany neck is shaped to a comfortable, fast-playing Medium C profile that fits most players’ hands perfectly. The 34” long-scale neck delivers more tonal depth, richer bass, and a fuller-bodied tone. The neck on this refreshed version is capped with a rosewood fretboard, which features 22 medium jumbo frets and is adorned with pearloid trapezoid inlays.
The headstock is dressed up with the Epiphone logo and Gibson crown, both inlaid in mother of pearl. It is equipped with reliable, vintage-style open-gear tuners with clover buttons, which, in conjunction with the GraphTech® nut, ensure reliable, stable tuning. The SG Bass features nickel hardware, including a three-point adjustable bridge that delivers full action height and individual string intonation capabilities, and anchors the strings securely for excellent sustain.
Driving the SG Bass’s powerful tone are a pair of humbucker™ pickups, with a Sidewinder neck pickup paired with a NYT Bass mini humbucker in the bridge position. Each pickup is wired to its own volume and tone controls that use high-quality CTS potentiometers, while a three-position rotary switch handles pickup selection for a familiar, easy-to-use yet powerful control setup.
