Epiphone’s Inspired by Gibson ES-339™ is designed for those seeking the tone and look of an ES-335, but in a slightly smaller, lighter instrument that is closer in overall size to a Les Paul™. The Epiphone ES-339 retains the semi-hollowbody construction of the ES-335, complete with a layered maple and poplar body with a solid maple centerblock for increased sustain and greatly reduced feedback compared to a thinline hollowbody guitar. This construction approach delivers the resonance and tone of a hollowbody paired with the sustain and feedback resistance of a solidbody, making the ES-339 one of the most flexible guitar designs ever built. From hard rock to jazz, blues to country, there is no musical genre you can’t cover, and cover exceptionally well, with an ES-339.
The glued-in mahogany neck has a comfortable Rounded C profile. Neither too small nor too large, it fits the majority of hand sizes perfectly. The rosewood fretboard is equipped with 22 smooth-playing medium jumbo frets and adorned with simple pearloid dot inlays for a classic look that’s reminiscent of vintage “dot neck” ES-335 models, and the 12” fretboard radius makes playing first-position chords and leads further up the neck equally effortless.
The Kalamazoo-style headstock proudly displays the Epiphone logo and Gibson crown, both inlaid in mother of pearl. The headstock is equipped with high-quality Grover® Rotomatic® tuners. Along with the GraphTech® nut, they ensure precise, stable tuning. The other ends of the strings pass over a LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic™ bridge that delivers full adjustability for action height and individual string intonation, and anchor to a LockTone Stop bar tailpiece, which contributes to the model’s excellent sustain.
Electronically, a pair of Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO™ humbucker™ pickups showcases the versatile Gibson ES™ tone that players have craved for over 60 years. Each pickup is wired to individual volume and tone controls. The controls feature high-quality CTS® potentiometers for smooth, consistent, and reliable operation, and are topped with black Top Hat knobs with Silver inserts. A three-way pickup selector rounds out the familiar, versatile controls.
The ES-339 delivers all the tonal flexibility of the ES-335 in a more compact package and is ideal for every player and every stage. It is an excellent choice, no matter what style of music you want to play. It comes packaged in a premium gig bag for easy and safe portability and storage.
