1987 Gibson Chet Atkins CE, Serial Number 82237500

As part of the Chet Atkins acoustic-electric series developed in the 1980s, the Gibson Chet Atkins CE was designed to provide studio and stage players with a way to achieve natural acoustic tones at higher volumes without feedback. Built with a chambered mahogany body, spruce top, and an under-saddle transducer pickup, this model was known for its ability to deliver a clear, resonant tone with minimal handling noise.

This 1987 Gibson Chet Atkins CE is finished in Alpine White and remains in very clean original condition, showing light checking throughout with no appreciable playwear. The guitar features a new, custom-made rosewood bridge installed by Gibson Repair & Restoration due to the original bridge being too close to the routed edge. The pickup and preamp are experimental versions, differing from the standard Chet Atkins CE pickup and preamp. According to Gibson Repair & Restoration, the circuit board is identical to the production model but lacks the individual trim pots for each string, instead using a single trim pot to control the transducer strip, suggesting this was a proof-of-concept build merging old and new technology.

Ships in its original Gibson hardshell case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity, Letter of Appraisal, and new Limited Lifetime Warranty.
