1982 Gibson Moderne, Serial Number C 063:
The Gibson Moderne™ was conceived in the late 1950s alongside the Flying V™ and Explorer™, but wasn't officially produced until 1982, and it remains one of the most elusive and distinctive guitars in Gibson’s history. With its exaggerated, asymmetrical body shape, sharp treble-side horn, and oddly shaped headstock—often likened to Gumby—the Moderne was decades ahead of its time in both design and attitude.
This Gibson Certified Vintage 1982 Moderne is a near-mint example with almost no playwear. The hardware is clean, the original frets show no noticeable wear, and the Korina body and neck retain their natural gloss finish. The only visible blemish is a small dye stain near the control cavity on the back of the body. There was also a very minimal amount of separation between the neck heel and body, which was glued and stabilized by Glaser Instruments. Very minimal, non-invasive work, but done to ensure it is fully secure. Otherwise, this guitar plays, sounds, and looks exactly as it did when it left the factory over 40 years ago, and represents a rare opportunity to own a clean version of this unusual and mythical instrument.
It comes with its original brown and pink hardshell case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity, Letter of Appraisal, and new Limited Lifetime Warranty.
