A 60s style SG for modern guitarists
Inspired by one of the most iconic solidbody guitar designs of the 60s, the Epiphone SG Standard 60s captures the fast feel, sharp attitude, and unmistakable tone that have made the SG a defining guitar in rock history, and a must-have for any collection. Designed for players who want timeless SG performance with updated style, this model reinforces Epiphone’s commitment to bringing legendary designs to a new generation, encouraging today’s musicians to create their own musical legacy with this legendary model.
The SG Standard 60s features the instantly identifiable, sharply sculpted double-cutaway SG body that’s been turning heads since its introdution in 1961. Crafted from mahogany, it delivers a rich, mid-forward tone with plenty of resonance and sustain. The glued-in mahogany neck has a fast-playing SlimTaper™ C profile for effortless playability. The bound rosewood fretboard has a 12” radius for easy chording, and string bends that won’t fret out, even when the action is set low. The fretboard is equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets and adorned with pearloid trapezoid inlays.
The 60s Kalamazoo-style headstock is outfitted with a GraphTech® nut and Epiphone Deluxe tuners, ensuring excellent tuning stability, and is dressed up with the Epiphone logo and Gibson crown, both inlaid in mother of pearl.
The SG Standard 60s features the smaller-sized SG pickguard, as found on the earliest SG models. The body is also outfitted with Epiphone LockTone™ hardware, including a LockTone Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece, which deliver full adjustability for action height and intonation, along with excellent sustain.
A pair of ProBucker™ humbucker™ pickups powers the Epiphone SG Standard 60s, with a ProBucker 2 in the neck perfectly matched with a somewhat hotter ProBucker 3 in the bridge position that delivers everything from sweet cleans to heavy overdrive when you push your amp hard. Each pickup is connected to its own set of volume and tone controls, providing additional tonal flexibility, and they can be used individually or together with a flip of the three-way toggle switch.
