A legendary Epiphone original returns with a rosewood fretboard
The Epiphone Riviera is an Epiphone original, and one of the staples of its semi-hollowbody guitar line. First introduced in 1961, the Riviera has been a favorite of players across all genres and generations, from blues greats to today’s Britpop and alternative rock music stars. They’ve all discovered that the Riviera’s legendary ES™ body shape can produce great tones with any pickup and control setting variations.
This newly updated Riviera features a body made from five-ply layered maple, with a solid maple centerblock that adds sustain while simultaneously greatly reducing feedback when compared to a fully hollow thinline electric guitar, so it’s perfect for every player and ready for any stage, no matter how hard you’re rocking it. The body is trimmed with single-ply binding around the top and back.
The mahogany neck features a comfortable Rounded C profile that is not too big or too small—it sits in the hand “just right” for many players. The neck features a rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and is adorned with stylish pearloid parallelogram inlays. The 12” fretboard radius delivers an ideal playing surface, whether you’re playing first-position chords or laying down screaming leads with heavy string bends further up the neck.
The traditional sloped dovewing headstock is adorned with the Epiphone logo and 60s-style oval headstock inlay, both rendered in mother of pearl. The headstock is equipped with reliable Epiphone Vintage Deluxe tuners with metal buttons, which, in partnership with the Graph Tech® nut, ensure rock-solid tuning stability. The truss rod cover uses the classic crescent bullet design and features the Epiphone “E” logo. The three-ply pickguard also proudly displays the classic foil Epiphone “E” logo.
The Riviera has nickel hardware throughout and comes equipped with Epiphone’s LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Frequensator™ tailpiece. The Tune-O-Matic bridge is fully adjustable for action height and individual string intonation, while the Frequensator tailpiece optimizes string tension and playing feel from the lowest strings to the highest.
Powering the Riviera is a set of Epiphone PRO™ Mini Humbucker™ pickups. These are a bit brighter-sounding than full-sized humbuckers, yet remain hum-free, delivering a rich, bright, and shimmering tone that is unique to the Riviera. From sweet, crystalline cleans to raging distorted tones that can cut through any mix, the Riviera can do it all. Each pickup is wired to its own volume and tone controls using high-quality CTS® potentiometers for even more tonal flexibility.
