Gibson Custom is honoring the remarkable milestone of 100 years of Gibson flat-top guitars with new Anniversary Limited Edition J-45™, Hummingbird™, SJ-200™, Dove™ and Advanced Jumbo acoustic models. Each marks a century of flat-top craftsmanship and is finished in a special Cremona Burst to mark the occasion. And, fittingly, there are only 100 units available for each of the five models.
The arrival of the first Gibson flat-tops in the 1920s acted as a springboard for the development of some of the most famous and most-heard musical instruments in history. Anniversary celebrations have also included the expansion of the Original Collection, an Anniversary L-1 from Gibson Custom, and the launch of three new 12-fret models as part of the Gibson Century Collection.
All the Gibson Custom Anniversary Limited Edition models have been handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, and are accompanied by a Gibson Custom hardshell case and a Certificate of Authenticity. They share a consistent design approach, incorporating premium tonewoods such as select bear claw Sitka spruce tops, multi-ply binding accented with abalone, and elegant abalone rosettes. Across the series, players will find traditional rosewood fretboards, bone nuts and saddles, gold-plated Grover® tuners, and L.R. Baggs™ VTC electronics. J-45 Anniversary Limited Edition
The Gibson Custom J-45 Anniversary Limited Edition pairs a mahogany back and sides with a select bear claw Sitka spruce top, offering the familiar warmth and character that has defined the model, as well as exceptional visual appeal. The back is bordered by multi-ply binding, while the top showcases multi-ply binding with abalone and an abalone rosette.
Its mahogany neck offers a comfortable SlimTaper™ profile, while a bound rosewood fretboard carries 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The single-ply bound headstock displays the vintage script-style “The Gibson” logo, inlaid in mother of pearl, and is completed with a bone nut and gold-plated Grover® open-back tuners.
A tortoiseshell-colored teardrop pickguard adds an unmistakable J-45 touch, while a rosewood belly-up bridge features pyramid carving details reminiscent of early Gibson flat-tops, and is fitted with a bone saddle and TUSQ® bridge pins. Factory-equipped L.R. Baggs VTC electronics include a piezo under-saddle sensor and active preamp. Soundhole-mounted volume and tone wheels remain discreet from an audience’s view.
Hummingbird Anniversary Limited Edition
This rare Gibson Custom Hummingbird Anniversary Limited Edition offers the same tonewood combination as the J-45. Its mahogany neck features a Round profile, and its bound rosewood fretboard also carries 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl split parallelogram inlays.
The single-ply bound headstock displays a vintage-style “The Gibson” logo, and hosts a bone nut and gold-plated Grover tuning machines with keystone buttons. The tortoiseshell-colored pickguard features classic hummingbird, butterfly, and floral artwork, while a rosewood belly-up bridge with pyramid carving on the wings holds a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins and is a nod to early Gibson flat-top bridge designs.
SJ-200 Anniversary Limited Edition
This commemorative SJ-200 pairs AAA figured maple back and sides with a premium bear claw Sitka spruce top, bringing together the voice and visual character the SJ-200 is known for. The back is accented with multi-ply binding, while the top features multi-ply binding with abalone, as well as an abalone rosette.
A two-piece AA maple neck with a walnut stringer and a comfortable Round profile supports a bound rosewood fretboard fitted with 20 standard frets. Mother-of-pearl graduated crowns add a classic touch, as does the single-ply bound headstock where “The Gibson” logo in mother of pearl can be found, complete with a bone nut and gold-plated Grover Imperial™ tuners.
Abalone detailing extends to the dots on the tortoiseshell-colored SJ-200 vines-and-flowers pickguard, while a rosewood two-bar Moustache™ bridge completes the guitar, including a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins, with mother-of-pearl used for the bar inlays.
Dove Anniversary Limited Edition
Introduced in 1962 as the second square shoulder model in the Gibson catalog, the Dove was the company’s first dreadnought acoustic to feature a 25.5-inch scale length and maple body construction. This highly collectible Dove pairs AA figured maple back and sides with a select bear claw Sitka spruce top. The back is outlined with multi-ply binding, while the top incorporates multi-ply binding accented with abalone and an abalone rosette. Its mahogany neck is carved to a Round profile, hosting a bound rosewood fretboard with 20 standard frets, home to split parallelogram inlays in mother-of-pearl.
The single-ply bound headstock showcases “The Gibson” logo and is fitted with a bone nut and gold-plated Grover tuning machines with keystone buttons. The signature Dove pickguard displays classic artwork, including a mother-of-pearl dove inlay. The rosewood Dove bridge continues the theme with two additional mother-of-pearl dove inlays, along with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins.
Advanced Jumbo Anniversary Limited Edition
Originally launched in 1936 with only a brief production run, the Advanced Jumbo was part of the Gibson family of larger-bodied “advanced” models that offered greater output, enhanced projection, and a richer low-end response. This limited-edition Advanced Jumbo unites a rosewood back and sides with a select bear claw Sitka spruce top. The back is outlined in multi-ply binding, while the top showcases multi-ply binding, abalone accents, and an abalone rosette. A mahogany neck is shaped to the Historic AJ profile, and a bound rosewood fretboard carries 19 standard frets along with mother-of-pearl arrow inlays.
The single-ply bound headstock features “The Gibson” logo and is fitted with a bone nut and gold-plated Grover open-back tuners. A classic firestripe pickguard complements the top, and the rectangular, closed-slot rosewood bridge features pyramid-style carvings on the wings, mirroring early Gibson flat-top designs. It is completed by a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins.
