Natural Top, Cherry Back SJ-200
This Gibson Custom Select 1957 SJ-200™ Reissue features a custom finish with Antique Natural on the top and Cherry on the back and sides, with Murphy Lab Light Aging. Gibson Custom Select offers instruments with distinct specifications that are handpicked by Gibson’s experts using the same method as creating a Made to Measure guitar. These instruments offer a unique take on existing models with custom finishes, unique electronics, exotic tonewoods, distinct inlays, and more. Crafted in small batches by skilled artisans in Bozeman, Montana, Gibson Custom Select acoustic guitars offer special instruments made available directly from the source.
Known as the “King of the Flat-Tops,” the Gibson SJ-200 is the largest acoustic guitar in the Gibson lineup. This Gibson Custom Select 1957 SJ-200 features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top that mimics the aging of a decades-old spruce top on a vintage instrument. Over time, the sugars in the spruce will crystallize, giving the wood a unique character common to vintage guitars. AAA flame maple is featured on the back and sides of the guitar, showcasing the level of figured tonewoods used in Gibson Custom instruments. The iconic 4-bar Moustache™ SJ-200 bridge is meticulously crafted from a piece of ebony. The fretboard is also ebony and glued to a three-piece AAA flame maple neck. The headstock finishes off the classic SJ-200 aesthetic with an inlaid block Gibson logo and crown, with Kluson® Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons.
While the 1957 SJ-200 Reissue usually features a Vintage Sunburst, this SJ-200 has a customized finish with Antique Natural on the thermally aged Sitka spruce top, and Cherry on the AAA flamed maple back and sides. The guitar has received Murphy Lab Light Aging to give it the authentic look and feel of a vintage guitar. The fretboard edges are extra-rolled for a more comfortable playing experience, like a broken-in baseball glove.
Put all these customizations into one guitar, and it makes for a unique experience that looks like it could have come straight from the 1950s. Included with the guitar is a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity and a hardshell case.
