"Awesome Guitar!"
The Gibson Custom Select 1959 Les Paul™ Standard Reissue in Factory Burst Gloss and Kindred Burst Gloss are faithful recreations of some of the most desirable electric guitars in the world. Hand-selected finishes and unique hardware are features that are unique to the Gibson Custom Select Collection. Looking as if it just left the factory floor yesterday, this 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue has a gloss finish with gloss hardware to match. Travel back in time to see and feel what a vintage Les Paul “Burst” would be like in 1959.
The Les Paul “Burst” was only produced from 1958 to 1960 before it was discontinued to make way for what is now called the SG™. While these guitars weren’t an immediate commercial success, “Bursts” started appearing in the hands of players like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck in the mid-1960s. The 1959 Les Paul is where everything came together to make for the perfect storm. Aged, old-growth tonewoods, from Honduran mahogany to Brazilian rosewood, were used. Seth Lover’s humbucker™ design had hit its stride with construction and materials. The sunburst finishes showcased the flame maple tops, which gave each guitar its own identity. Because of the scarcity and high regard these instruments hold, it’s no wonder vintage examples are some of the most valuable electric guitars in the world.
Every aspect of this guitar is a faithful re-creation of the legendary beasts that were made during Gibson’s first Golden Era. Finished in Factory Burst Gloss and Kindred Burst Gloss, this guitar has two variations of the sunburst finish that came from the factory in 1959. The neck profile is modeled directly from one of the most famous “Bursts” of all time, Carmelita. Measuring in at 0.860” at the first 1st fret and 0.975” at the 12th fret, this neck profile has hand-rolled fingerboard edges to make it feel like a vintage guitar. The fingerprint of these 1959 Les Paul Standard guitars are the AAA flame maple tops, which are all hand-selected at Gibson Custom. The gloss finishes and gloss nickel hardware make this guitar look like it was born yesterday. The unpotted Custombucker pickups powered by Alnico 3 magnets are meticulously modeled from original “Patent Applied For” pickups that have a legendary status on their own.
While aged guitars have been all the rage in recent times, pristine, gloss-finished 1959 Les Paul Standards from Gibson Custom have taken a back seat. Thanks to the Gibson Custom Select Collection, a gloss 1959 Les Paul is made available to the masses once again. This Gibson Custom Select 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue is a factory-fresh legend. Included with the guitar is a brown Lifton™ case with the iconic pink interior and a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity.
