A no-nonsense rocker returns to its original form—now with a rosewood fretboard
The Epiphone Wilshire first appeared in 1959. From its introduction, it has been one of Epiphone’s most successful original solidbody electric guitar designs. The newly refreshed Wilshire P-90 brings back many of the features of the earliest Wilshire models, along with player-centric upgrades that make it better than ever for today’s guitarists.
The Wilshire P-90 returns to its roots with the rounded-edge, two-piece, symmetrical double-cutaway body of the early models. The body is crafted from solid mahogany, giving it a rich, resonant, midrange-focused tone.
The glued-in mahogany neck features the Medium C neck profile, delivering a solid, hand-filling playing experience without being overly clubby. For a more premium playing feel, this updated Wilshire P-90 features a rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and acrylic dot inlays.
The three-on-a-side, reduced-size Kalamazoo-style headstock features Epiphone Deluxe tuners with ivory buttons. Along with a GraphTech® nut, they ensure rock-solid tuning stability. In another historical nod to the earlier Wilshire models, the headstock also features the vintage-style Epiphone Bikini badge.
The other ends of the strings pass over a Tune-O-Matic™ bridge that delivers full action height and intonation adjustability, so you can set things up exactly how you like them. The strings anchor to a Stop Bar tailpiece, bolted to the mahogany body, for exceptional tonal transfer and outstanding sustain. Another vintage-inspired touch is the foil Epiphone E logo you’ll find on the vintage-style black butterfly pickguard.
True to its name, the Wilshire P-90 is equipped with a pair of Epiphone PRO™ P-90 Soapbar pickups that deliver everything from sweet clean tones to the aggressive bite and growling distortion that P-90s are famous for. For players in the know, the sonic flexibility of P-90s makes them some of the most beloved pickups ever made. Each pickup is wired to individual volume and tone controls using high-quality CTS® potentiometers and a three-way pickup selector for additional tonal shaping at the twist of a knob or the flick of a switch.
