Three Nashville singer-songwriters unite in a harmony-drenched creative force
Introducing verygently, the latest addition to the Gibson Artist Spotlight program, dedicated to showcasing and supporting exceptional emerging talent. Formed in early 2024, verygently brings together three established Nashville singer-songwriters, Drew Erwin, Joey Hendricks, and Tristan Bushman, into a collaborative force rooted in friendship, honesty, and shared creative vision. Blending sharp wit with emotional candor, they make harmony-driven indie rock that feels as cathartic as it does catchy, powered by rich three-part harmonies and undeniable chemistry.
After quickly gaining traction on the road with artists like Augustana, The Fray, The Band Camino, and Ruston Kelly, verygently earned a reputation for magnetic live shows that channel their camaraderie into something electric. Their previous EPs, DUMBA$$ MODE and FAME!, capture a band unafraid to balance heartache with humor, turning real-life experiences into songs that resonate.
With a debut full-length album on the horizon, verygently continues to build momentum as a unified force—three distinct voices creating something greater together. We spoke to the band to find out more.
How would you describe your music?
“Our music blends the influences we each grew up on into something new. Even though our influences are different, we meet in the middle as lyric driven singer-songwriters, as that’s who we all are at our core. Sonically, it’s a mix of classic Laurel Canyon Americana, with some rock elements and an emphasis on lyrical depth. To sum it up: emotional but fun.”
What is your favourite piece of Gibson gear that you own?
Drew: “Gibson ES-127. Got it for a Christmas gift from my dad and it’s the most inspiring guitar I own”
Tristan: “1971 Gibson J-45. I got it from Fanny’s House of Music in East Nashville as a gift to myself after signing my first publishing deal!! Such a special guitar.”
Joey: “Gibson J-45 for sure!”
What has been the highlight of your musical career so far?
“Playing the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and the Troubadour in LA on tour with Ruston Kelly. Nights we’ll never forget.”
What would be your dream artist or producer collaboration?
Drew: “Working with Jarrad K made all my dreams come true.”
Tristan: “Collab with Justin Vernon or Djo would go crazy.”
Joey: “John Mayer.”
What does being part of the Gibson Artist Spotlight program mean to you?
“Honestly, it’s such an honor and a dream come true. Growing up learning guitar, being supported and championed by such an iconic company wasn’t something we ever thought would happen. It’s so cool to be affiliated with a brand that we’ve always seen our favorite artists playing.”
What's next on the horizon for you?
“We’ve been releasing new songs, leading into an album coming out later this year. We’ve been on the road a bunch, touring with Ruston Kelly and Kameron Marlowe, and about to hit the road with Trousdale. There’s so much on the horizon and we can’t wait to share it with you.”
