A small-bodied acoustic cutaway guitar with a big sound

The Gibson Parlor Rosewood EC is a small-bodied acoustic cutaway guitar with lots of personality and an even bigger sound. With a small body profile reminiscent of a pared-down SJ-200™, it has classic Gibson acoustic visual appeal, while the smaller body size makes it extremely comfortable and easy to hold and play. Its compact proportions are especially inviting for players accustomed to electric guitars, as well as players who find larger dreadnought and square-shoulder acoustics difficult to navigate. The Parlor Rosewood EC now comes equipped with the Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system, delivering the guitar’s natural character and every nuance of your playing with exceptional realism when amplified.

The Parlor Rosewood EC produces warmth, depth, and balanced tone through handcrafted Gibson construction techniques, including a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint, a radiused top, and traditional scalloped X-bracing. The solid Sitka spruce top is finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, while the solid rosewood back and sides are finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer and feature multi-ply top and single-ply back binding. The rosewood body contributes added low-end response and depth, giving this compact acoustic a full voice that belies its smaller dimensions. The cutaway provides excellent access to the upper frets, making the Parlor Rosewood EC especially appealing to lead players who want more freedom across the fretboard.

The satin nitrocellulose lacquer-finished mahogany neck features an Advanced Response profile that many players feel is an ideal middle ground that’s neither too slender nor too beefy and sits comfortably in the hand for a wide range of players. It is topped with a bound rosewood fretboard with an easy-playing 16-inch radius, 19 standard frets, and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. The Gibson headstock logo is also inlaid in mother of pearl.

The nut, saddle, and bridge pins are TUSQ®, while smooth-turning, gold-plated Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners help provide solid tuning stability and accuracy. The rosewood bridge features Gibson’s traditional belly-up orientation, while the faux tortoise pickguard completes the classic acoustic presentation.

Inside, the Parlor Rosewood EC is now equipped with the all-new Gibson-exclusive Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system. This active system uses two lightweight sensors mounted on the internal bridge plate. The sensors are matched with optimized individual preamps to deliver full-bodied, amplified acoustic tone that lets the guitar’s character and personality come through when amplified, with no impact on the unamplified tone. The Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ system offers comparable gain-before-feedback to an under-saddle pickup. The system also includes soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls that are quick and easy to access while playing, and all but invisible to your audience.

Compact, comfortable, and easy to navigate, the Parlor Rosewood EC offers impressive acoustic presence in a body that feels inviting to electric players and anyone who prefers a smaller instrument. Its cutaway provides added freedom for lead playing, and a modern hardshell case is included for storage and travel.
