Night Traveler joins the Gibson Artist Spotlight program

Night Traveler joins the Gibson Artist Spotlight program

“A lot of our fans take to our 80s textures and grooves, but we really try to add edge and rawness”

The Gibson Artist Spotlight program is proud to showcase an evolving roster of new musical talent across Gibson channels globally. Following recent additions Yasser Tejeda, PAIO, KO KO MO, and ASAKA, the latest addition to the program is Night Traveler from Austin, Texas. The duo blends confessional songwriting with warm guitar tones and an 80s-tinged sound that feels both deeply nostalgic and entirely their own. We spoke to guitarist Adam Fischer to find out more.

How would you describe your music?

“Our music has a nostalgic quality yet doesn’t feel confined to a specific decade. Classic bands like the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac inspired the dual lead singer/harmony-based songwriting we have chased after.  A lot of our fans take to our 80s textures and grooves, but we really try to add an edge and rawness to modernize that time we love. But really, we are just two guys from small towns in Texas who found our sound in a garage and honestly are still figuring out our sound.”

What is your favorite piece of gear?

“My Gibson ES-335 ’63 reissue is the best musical instrument I’ve ever owned. It has probably been the song-starter on over 50 percent of our catalog. There is an emotional expression in this guitar that I’ve never found in anything else. It’s so versatile for anything any song needs. I’ll have it forever, it’s going to my kids someday.”

What has been the highlight of your musical career so far?

“There have been lots of moments in our journey so far, but the friendship we’ve developed with Stevie Nicks is at the top of the list. Playing our first arenas in support of such a legend is beyond anything we set out to do. But above that, just spending real time with her, sharing stories, and hearing how her music has impacted her is the absolute highlight.”

What would be your dream artist or producer collaboration, and why?

“Staying on the Stevie Nicks subject, working with Stevie would be an absolute dream. There is a spirit in her that inspired us way before we met and her and it continues to inspire us today.  We would love to write or feature with her—or have her vocals on a Night Traveler tune. And hey, you never know!”

What does being part of the Gibson Artist Spotlight program mean to you?

“It is an absolute honor to be part of the Artist Spotlight. I’ve spent more time playing guitar in my life than maybe anything other than sleeping. Gibson guitars were the pinnacle for me from a young age. I remember seeing Jim Adkins from Jimmy Eat World on late night playing a Goldtop and it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. The Epiphone Les Paul was my first guitar. To be highlighted and supported by Gibson after being inspired by them as a little kid in my room, nothing tops it. Thanks Gibson!”

What's next on the horizon for you?

“We are currently working on a new full-length album and hope to begin recording that in the next few months. A headline tour is also a priority to get on the books soon, as well as some more support spots for Stevie Nicks.”
