The striking signature J-180 acoustic offers a longer scale length for improved projection and clarity, and is completed by WoWkie Da’s signature logo, characterful star inlays, and a full gloss finish
Epiphone has officially launched its first collaboration with Chinese pop megastar, WoWkieDa, with the release of the WoWkie Da Signature Inspired by Gibson Custom J-180 acoustic guitar. The model, exclusive to China, is based on the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom J-180 LS premium acoustic model, developed using original design data shared from the Gibson Custom Shop.
WoWkie Da is a long-time devotee of Gibson and Epiphone. He’s a singer, songwriter, guitarist, composer, producer, and television personality. He first rose to prominence in the late 1990s as the frontman of The Flowers, widely recognized as China’s first nationally famous teenage band. Since launching his solo career in 2009, WoWkie Da has released 193 singles and sold over five million records. He has also appeared on CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala and as a judge on music shows such as The Big Band and Rap of China.
The WoWkie Da Signature IGC J-180 has a 25.5-inch scale length and delivers enhanced projection, clarity, and more low-end power compared to traditional short-scale acoustics. It has all-solid wood construction, a thermally aged Sitka spruce top, and solid mahogany back and sides.
The guitar also features a one-piece mahogany neck with a Rounded C profile, and is equipped with an L.R. Baggs™ Element Bronze VTC pickup system. It’s finished in striking full-gloss ebony black, and Wowkie Da’s signature logo is displayed on the top, while mother-of-pearl star inlays decorate the ebony fingerboard and bridge. His signature is also featured on the truss rod cover.
