This role is responsible for the Global Logistics Coordination and freight improvement for the overall business. This includes global freight, mode and utilization analysis and the ability to reduce cost in each area while meeting/improving service performance. This role is responsible for the transparent reporting of the in-transit condition of product shipments and for the timely delivery of said items. The costs for the items managed by this function are critical to the performance of the company and must be managed efficiently and effectively and are highly focused and require constant update and improvement.

 

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates with Finance in capturing all known costs to the movement and acceptance of products to ensure an accurate product cost is derived and maintained.
  • Keep the business aware of all changes to logistics conditions (positive or negative) and maintain a database/list of changes and impacts to the bottom line or timing of the transportation.
  • Create and manage centralized databases for freight lane rate information by mode, fees and other items to ensure costs are transparent and accessible for analysis. 
  • Measure the performance of the logistics processes including time in transit and other required items.
  • Participate and support the exercise to develop a central master database and TMS system to include the capturing of all import/export/logistics data.  
  • Ensure all customer required communication is timely and accurate and requests are met with a high sense of urgency
  • Report out to the business as required
  • Metrics for this role are: Time In Transit and average cost per lane versus plan


Required Skills/Abilities 

  • Data driven with foundations in establishing error proofed and auditable systems/processes
  • Strong organizational and follow up skills, especially with customers directly
  • Ability to research and learn new logistics systems and adapt best practices
  • Ability to foster and maintain strong working relationships with the Finance and Sales teams
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and processes

 

Required Education and Experience 

  • At least 5 years of logistics experience                                  
  • Strong Microsoft Excel capability                                           
  • Bachelor’s Degree or an additional 5 years of dedicated experience
  • Demonstrated team leadership and cross team collaboration                                             
  • Ability to determine the best mode of freight to use per a given situation          

 

Essential Knowledge 

  • Demonstrated team leadership, cross team collaboration, project management and problem solving.                            
  • Knowledge of the guitar components and guitars and how they align to compliance requirements
  • Strong knowledge in global logistics processes, modes and capabilities

  • Less than 10%
