De Nachtwacht joins the Gibson Artist Spotlight program

“Gibson represents a bloodline of legendary musicians and guitar players, and to now be part of that lineage myself means the world to me”

The prestigious Gibson Artist Spotlight program returns for 2026, shining a light on today’s most promising rising music stars. Following the announcement of the program roster for 2026, it’s time to introduce our January Spotlight Artist, De Nachtwacht. Hailing from The Netherlands, De Nachtwacht is the new musical project of Dutch artist Jiri Taihuttu, “blending soft-rock warmth with modern pop, funk, and everything that swings.” We recently caught up with Jiri to find out more.

How would you describe your music?

“Sophisticated soft rock. Music that swings, with strong grooves, warmth and depth. It’s layered and detailed.”

What is your favourite piece of gear that you own?

“My Epiphone 1963 Les Paul SG Custom with Maestro Vibrola in Classic White. I’ve been playing it for about a year now and I’m completely in love with it. The look, the warm vintage tone, but also the ability to really push it and let it rip when needed—it gives me a huge range.”

What has been the highlight of your musical career so far?

“Pinkpop 2024. That moment really felt like everything came together: musically, emotionally, and in terms of where I’m headed as an artist.”

What would be your dream artist or producer collaboration, and why?

“Donald Fagen. Steely Dan is my favourite band of all time, and his songwriting and piano skills are endlessly inspiring to me. Working with him would be an absolute honour.”

What does being part of the Gibson Artist Spotlight program mean to you?

“A lot. As long as I can remember, I’ve been playing and loving Gibson guitars. To me, Gibson represents a bloodline of legendary musicians and guitar players, and to now be part of that lineage myself means the world to me.”

What’s next on the horizon for you?

“My new album comes out this Friday, which I’m incredibly proud of. With this record we’re going all-in on live shows—our own headline shows as well as a full festival run, with stops like Down The Rabbit Hole and Paaspop. I’m really excited about the future, and especially about playing this music live.”
