Honoring Not One, but Two Blues LegendsLegendary blues musician James "Slim Harpo" Moore is remembered for his hit songs like "I'm A King Bee," "Baby Scratch My Back," and "Shake Your Hips." His songs have been covered by artists such as The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, and The Yardbirds. His guitar of choice was the Gibson ES-330. Now Gibson USA is proud to recreate his guitar in the form of the Slim Harpo "Lovell" ES-330. The Slim Harpo "Lovell" ES-330 features 3-ply maple / poplar / maple top, back and sides with spruce bracing, a mahogany neck with rounded C profile, rosewood fretboard with small block inlays, ABR-1 bridge with Trapeze tailpiece, Vintage Deluxe tuners with white buttons, Dogear P-90 pickups with hand-wired controls and Orange Drop® capacitors, and has a custom "Lovell" logo on the back of the headstock to honor Slim Harpo's life partner, manager and the co-writer of many of his biggest hits, Lovell Moore.
P-90 Single Coil Pickup
First introduced in the early 1950s, Gibson's legendary P90 single coil pickup produced a raw powerful tone that helped define the blues and rock and roll in their formative years. Today, the P90's traditional combination of high output and brilliant tone is still considered a favorite among many top musicians. Known by such familiar nicknames as the "Soapbar" and the "Cobalt," the P90 still cuts through any type of music, all while displaying amazing tonal sensitivity for everything from blues and rock to mellow jazz riffs. It's perfect as a vintage replacement, and features vintage, braided two-conductor wiring. It's also fully wax potted to eliminate any chance of unwanted microphonic feedback.
