The SG that fuels the voice of modern hard rock

Guitarist Jake Kiszka, co-founder of the rock ’n’ roll powerhouse Greta Van Fleet, has carved out a sound fueled by intensity, precision, and a deep commitment to creativity. His connection to his treasured 1961 SG™ runs deeper than familiarity — it’s a musical partnership. “The ’61, this particular model, has defined me as a player, and I think I’ve defined it in return,” he notes. For decades, the Gibson SG has inspired trailblazers and iconoclasts, standing at the center of the evolution of contemporary rock ’n’ roll. The new Jake Kiszka SG Standard honors that heritage, a finely crafted blend of mahogany and metal brought to life in Nashville.

Created in limited numbers, this instrument pays homage to the legendary ’61 SG with its sculpted double-cutaway profile, pronounced bevels, and unmistakably vintage silhouette. Its SlimTaper™ mahogany neck invites fluid movement across a rosewood fretboard fitted with 22 medium jumbo frets and glowing acrylic trapezoid inlays. A Graph Tech® nut partners with Gibson Vintage Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons to deliver reliable tuning performance.

At the opposite end, the strings travel across an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic™ bridge for precise control over action and intonation, then secure to a stop tailpiece beneath a Sideways Vibrola™ cover. While the guitar mirrors the aesthetic of Jake’s original 1961 SG, affectionately known as the Beloved, the Vibrola assembly has been purposefully modified and locked. This keeps the classic visual element intact while functioning as a stable non-tremolo design. Once a tool for adventurous pitch effects, the fixed Vibrola now stands as a reminder of the instrument’s evolution and the pursuit of modern reliability.

The electronics depart slightly from those of an early-60s SG. Jake selected a pair of T-Type humbuckers™, a duo engineered for assertive articulation, heightened dynamics, biting highs, and crisp definition. Each pickup features its own volume and tone controls, complemented by Orange Drop® capacitors for consistent, musical response.

Hand-built at the Gibson workshop, the Jake Kiszka SG Standard is finished in a Faded Vintage Cherry gloss nitrocellulose lacquer and arrives in a black Modern hardshell case emblazoned with Jake’s doubloon-inspired graphic. A standard backplate comes installed, while a second backplate — signed and stamped by Jake — is included in the case, along with a custom leather strap featuring a metallic coin pendant designed by Jake himself.

With Greta Van Fleet’s chart-topping releases and worldwide touring success, Jake Kiszka’s influence on emerging musicians continues to grow. His SG has been a constant companion throughout that rise. Now, the Jake Kiszka SG Standard offers players everywhere the chance to experience that same spirit. This exclusive model will only be available for a short time.

More Than a Signature Guitar

"This is my very first Gibson, so I wanted it to be something meaningful — and this guitar exceeded every expectation I had. From the moment I picked it up, it felt inspiring in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it yourself. The tone is warm, expressive, and incredibly alive, with a sensitivity that makes even simple playing feel emotional and immersive. Beyond how beautiful it is visually, it genuinely feels like an instrument made for artists and storytellers. It makes you want to sit longer, play longer, and create something honest with it. I bought it because of the artist behind it, but I’ve fallen in love with it because of what it is on its own. For my first Gibson, I honestly could not have chosen better."
