The L-00 is considered a parlor-sized guitar, which makes for a comfortable, smaller guitar than the larger, dreadnought-sized J-45™. First appearing in the Gibson catalog during the 1930s, the L-00 found early adopters with Delta blues players like Robert Johnson and have since found homes with pop singers such as Olivia Rodrigo. The smaller body responds well to fingerstyle guitar. Less energy is needed from the strings to vibrate the entire top, so a softer strumming hand will benefit from a smaller guitar like the L-00. The L-00 has the same tonewood complements as the J-45, which includes a spruce top paired with mahogany back and sides with a rosewood bridge and fretboard.

Instead of the usual rosewood bridge and fretboard, this L-00 Standard features a striped ebony bridge and fretboard. The fretboard is free from inlays, which gives the guitar a simpler aesthetic, not to get in the way of other ornate features such as the headstock. This headstock is bound and has an inlaid script Gibson logo, something that is rare to find on an L-00 Standard. Gold tuning machines top off the look of the headstock, which pairs nicely with the Grizzly Burst finish.
