A Hummingbird dressed up in British Racing Green 

This Gibson Custom Select Hummingbird™ Standard features a custom British Racing Green finish on the top with a Dark Walnut finish on the back, sides, and neck of the guitar. Gibson Custom Select offers unique instruments that are based on existing models. Handpicked customizations are chosen by Gibson’s experts, which can include custom finishes, detailed inlay work, and small details that are made possible through the same system as creating a Made to Measure guitar. While Made to Measure instruments are one-off designs, Gibson Custom Select instruments are crafted in small batches. Based on the tried-and-true Gibson Hummingbird Standard, this special guitar features a custom British Racing Green finish on the top and a custom Dark Walnut finish on the back, sides, and neck.  

The Gibson Custom Select Hummingbird Standard comes equipped with the Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs HiFi DNA™ pickup system, delivering the guitar’s unique voice and every nuance of your playing with exceptional realism when amplified. Dual transducers are mounted on the bass and treble sides of the bridge plate of the guitar, and each is independently voiced and paired with its own Class A preamp. These two pickups are then blended into a mono output, allowing each guitar’s unique sound to come through. Not only does the Baggs HiFi DNA pickup deliver high-fidelity sound, but its lightweight construction, coupled with the placement of the transducers and peel-and-stick installation, makes for a non-invasive design. From the string to the saddle to the bridge to the bridge plate, the natural transfer of energy remains largely unaffected, preserving the guitar’s acoustic character whether plugged in or not. 

This British Racing Green finish is now possible with a newly installed custom-color spray booth in Bozeman, Montana. Previously, it was not possible to have a metallic-finished acoustic guitar due to production limitations. This British Racing Green finish is the same paint that is used on the Gibson Custom Select 1957 Les Paul™ Reissue. To complement the dark metallic green top, a custom Dark Walnut finish was applied to the back, sides, and neck, showcasing the natural wood grain of the mahogany.  

This Gibson Custom Select Hummingbird Standard uses the recipe of the beloved Gibson Hummingbird Standard with the beauty of British Racing Green and Dark Walnut finishes. On top of it all, the Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system translates the guitar’s natural sound directly out to an audience. Included with the guitar is a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity and a hardshell case.
