The Gibson difference.

Evolution and innovation
The story of Gibson electric guitars is interwoven with the evolution of modern music. Our early electric guitars were developed in pursuit of volume, with pioneering jazz players like Charlie Christian trying to make themselves heard above the horn section in the band. Later, legendary Gibson guitars like the 1959 Les Paul Standard would be rediscovered by the leading lights of the 1960s blues boom and the guitar heroes of the 1970s who slung their guitars low, turned their amps up loud, and defined what it means to be a rock star. From today’s artist signature models to innovative neck shapes, weight relief, and versatile switching, we continue to refine our designs to suit the evolving needs of modern players.

Time-honored methods
At every price point, we use thin nitrocellulose lacquer finishes on Gibson electric guitars that look beautiful, age gracefully, and allow our instruments to feel acoustically resonant, dynamic, and alive. Arcane processes such as the rope-binding of bodies and the scraping of excess finish from fretboard binding with a razor are labor-intensive and time-consuming, but we believe that the extra effort is worthwhile and pays dividends. There’s no fast track to becoming a great guitar player, and there are no shortcuts taken when we craft a great Gibson guitar, either.

A generational product
Genuine Gibson electric guitars are designed and handcrafted in Nashville, Tennessee, and built to last, using the finest electronic components available and high-quality, responsibly sourced tonewoods. Many of the earliest Gibson electric guitars from back in the 1930s are still being used to make music today, and when you find the right guitar for you, it will be a companion for life that accompanies you on every step of your musical journey. When you find “the one,” you know it—it’s the guitar that wears the battle scars of late-night practice sessions, garage rehearsals, and bar gigs. It’s the one that’ll never let you down. Browse our electric guitar collections and find “the one” today.
