Epiphone's ultimate hollowbody, now with a rosewood fretboard
For over 70 years, the classic Epiphone Broadway has been considered the ultimate hollowbody jazz guitar, but it’s also excellent for roots rock and other genres. Now, this legacy-rich instrument has returned with beautiful new finishes and a rosewood fretboard. While the Broadway has existed as an acoustic archtop model since its introduction in 1931, the model’s capabilities really took off when it was electrified in 1958. Today’s Broadway retains that rich heritage and pairs it with modern construction and updated features for today’s guitarists.
The Broadway features back and sides crafted from layered maple, which is paired with a select spruce top. The back and sides feature six-ply binding, and the top also features single-ply-bound f-holes. The full-size, full-depth body is fully hollow and delivers excellent, highly resonant tone, whether played amplified or acoustically. The three-piece maple neck features a comfortable and fast-playing SlimTaper 60s C profile, making it easier to play extended jazz chords and fast, precise runs and phrases. The single-ply bound rosewood fretboard has 20 medium jumbo frets and is dressed up with mother-of-pearl block and abalone triangle inlays for elevated style.
The large, five-ply-bound clipped dovewing headstock is ornamented with a beautiful tree of life and the Epiphone logo, both inlaid in mother of pearl. The headstock is equipped with gold Grover® Rotomatic® tuning machines, which, along with the Graph Tech® nut, ensure rock-solid tuning stability.
The Broadway comes equipped with Alnico Classic PRO™ humbuckers™, each connected to individual volume and tone controls that feature high-quality CTS® potentiometers. A three-way pickup selector completes the highly versatile control layout.
Other vintage-correct details include an adjustable floating rosewood bridge, a vintage-style gold Frequensator™ split trapeze tailpiece, a multi-ply bound pickguard with the Epiphone E logo, and a crescent bullet truss rod cover, also with the E logo, which, along with the gold hardware and other fine appointments like the mother-of-pearl and abalone fretboard and headstock inlays, add to the subdued class of this versatile archtop.
