Gibson Custom Select makes guitars like this possible using the same system that is used to create Made to Measure designs. These guitars are based on existing models, with customizations to the base model, which can include finish, hardware, electronics, neck profiles, and more. Gibson Custom Select guitars are made in small batches by the skilled artisans at the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee, with details handpicked by Gibson’s experts.

The 1968 Les Paul Custom Reissue is a unique snapshot in Gibson’s history and catalog of guitars. The early iterations of the Les Paul Custom from 1954 to 1960 used a single piece of mahogany for the entire body. From 1961 to 1967, the single-cutaway Les Paul Custom was not in the product lineup. When the original design was reintroduced in 1968, it featured updated body construction. This construction took the Les Paul Standard recipe with a solid mahogany body topped with a two-piece maple cap. The 1968 Les Paul Custom is the only vintage-style reissue Les Paul that features the body construction of the 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue with the stylings of the 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue, giving the best of both worlds in this historic reissue.

Featuring all the styling of a Les Paul Custom, including an ebony fretboard with big block inlays, a multi-ply-bound body and headstock, and a split diamond inlay on the headstock, the guitar is dressed up with gold hardware, which fits the model’s deluxe aesthetics. The 1968 Les Paul Custom Reissue features an Authentic 1968 neck profile, based on 3D scans of vintage examples. This neck profile is best described as a C-shape, slightly thinner than the Authentic 1959 neck profile and thicker than the Authentic 1961 neck profile.

This Gibson Custom Select model features two customizations that set this guitar apart from the rest. First off is the Harvest Gold finish, which was originally used on Les Paul Custom models in the early 1980s. This rare finish uses a gold basecoat with a metallic red burst over the top, back, sides, and neck of the guitar. This is the first time Gibson has used this finish since those extremely rare examples were made. Instead of the T-Top Reissue pickups, Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups are under the hood of this Gibson Custom Select iteration.

This special 1968 Les Paul Custom Reissue brings the famed Harvest Gold finish back to the Gibson lineup while being powered by a set of Custombucker pickups. Built in small batches at the Gibson Custom Shop, it combines the maple-capped mahogany construction that defined the late 1950s Les Paul Standard with the elegant appointments of a 1950s Les Paul Custom. Finished in a striking blend of Goldtop-inspired gold and a late 1950s-style Sunburst, this Gibson Custom Select model brings together some of the most celebrated elements in Les Paul history into one distinctive design. Included with the guitar is a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity and a reissue hardshell case.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0659/3966/9171/files/LPC68PSL22537_1_Body_8cd5e688-f2e1-4438-8877-1b540600b110.png?v=1789574419
https://www.gibson.com/it/products/gibson-custom-select-1968-les-paul-custom-reissue-vos-harvest-gold
