An essential favorite of students and stars

The SG™ Junior returns to the classic design that made it relevant, played, and loved—shaping sound across generations and genres of music. Initially introduced in the early 60s as a student model, the SG Junior has been embraced by musicians ranging from students to world-renowned star performers for over 60 years. The rich, gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, early 60s neck joint, and sharp vintage body scarfing of the mahogany body are hallmarks of this model. The mahogany neck features the comfortable and fast-playing SlimTaper™ profile. Coupled with the lightweight and compact SG body shape, this makes it a great choice for smaller-statured players and those with smaller hands. The neck is topped with a rosewood fretboard with a 12” fretboard radius that delivers easy chording and smooth bends and is outfitted with simple acrylic dot position marker inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets; like all Gibson guitars, each SG Junior is run through a Plek® machine to ensure the frets and low-friction Graph Tech® nut are dressed and set up precisely, so the guitar will have optimum playability throughout the entire length fretboard from the moment you first pick it up. The SG Junior is equipped with the powerful single Dogear P-90 pickup with hand-wired volume and tone controls and an Orange Drop® tone capacitor. While simple and straightforward, a world of different tonal possibilities lives in the various settings on those two knobs. The Vintage Deluxe style tuners with white buttons and the compensated Wraparound bridge also contribute to great sustain, tuning stability, simplicity, function, and rock-solid tone. The SG Junior is a solid, proven performer with no frills to get in your way and everything you need for great tone. A hardshell case is also included to keep it safe when you’re traveling to your next performance.

La guitarra es preciosa, muy

"La guitarra es preciosa, muy ligera y con un olor a nitrocelulosa que es toda una experiencia. El trabajo de pintura está bien realizado pero los remates en los últimos trastes no están del todo bien terminados. Muchas manchas que se quitan de manera relativamente sencilla si lo haces con cuidado. En esos últimos trastes, el diapasón es más estrecho que el mástil por lo que hay un pequeño escalón. No es muy grave pero me llama la atención que en la guitarra más cara que tengo exista este fallo de construcción. La funda rígida es muy bonita aunque los cierres están muy flojos y no da la sensación de cerrar correctamente. En general estoy muy contento con esta guitarra que estéticamente es muy bonita y además suena de lujo."

"Very pleased with the set up. The guitar play's beautiful right out of the box. Anyone thinking of buying a Junior, Buy it! I have two other SG's one being a 27 year old standard and a custom shop Wildwood spec standard. This Junior plays and feels every bit as good. I only gave it 4 stars because the finish looks thick and wavey under lights and has fish eyes in it."
