Designed by renowned automotive coach designer Ray Dietrich, the Firebird drew inspiration from both the era’s iconic car designs and the Gibson Explorer™. Epiphone is excited to introduce the new Futura Firebird Custom, an extraordinary, modern take on a design that was way ahead of its time when Gibson first released it in 1963. The shapely mahogany body has 7-ply binding on the top, while the back features a rear belly cut for comfort. It is equipped with a LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and a LockTone Stop Bar tailpiece for exceptional intonation and sustain, while Posi-Lok™ strap buttons keep your strap securely attached without requiring extra hardware. The glued-in mahogany neck has an ultra-comfortable, fast-playing Modern C profile and is topped with a bound ebony fretboard with 22 stainless steel medium jumbo frets and eye-catching Super 400-style pearloid split block inlays. The fretboard also features a 10”-14” compound radius, making chording and string bends equally effortless. The bound Reverse Firebird headstock is equipped with locking Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners, a Graph Tech® nut, and a Firebird truss rod cover with the Epiphone logo.
Powering the Futura Firebird Custom are a pair of Epiphone’s new ProBucker™ Ignite humbucker™ pickups that can drive your amp hard when you want to, while retaining clarity. Push/pull volume and tone controls provide coil-splitting and phase options for even more tonal variety.
