Love the Guitar, my only
"Love the Guitar, my only complaint is the neck is a little too thin and I always end up accidentally pulling the high e off the fretboard."
This Gibson Custom Select J-45™ Standard features a custom Silverburst finish that gives this classic model a sinister aesthetic. Offering specifications based on existing models, Gibson Custom Select offers unique instruments that are designed using the same system as Made to Measure guitars. Gibson’s experts handpick these unique specifications, which can include custom finishes, special electronics, and small details made possible through the same system used for Made to Measure guitars. While Made to Measure instruments are one-off designs, Gibson Custom Select instruments are crafted in small batches. Based on the best-selling Gibson J-45 Standard, this special guitar wears a custom Silverburst finish that was made famous during the 1970s on models such as the Gibson Les Paul™ Custom.
The Gibson Custom Select J-45 Standard comes equipped with the Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs HiFi DNA™ pickup system, delivering the guitar’s unique voice and every nuance of your playing with exceptional realism when amplified. Dual transducers are mounted on the bass and treble sides of the bridge plate of the guitar, and each is independently voiced and paired with its own Class A preamp. These two pickups are then blended into a mono output, allowing each guitar’s unique sound to come through. Not only does the Baggs HiFi DNA pickup deliver high-fidelity sound, but its lightweight construction, coupled with the placement of the transducers and peel-and-stick installation, makes for a non-invasive design. From the string to the saddle to the bridge to the bridge plate, the natural transfer of energy remains largely unaffected, preserving the guitar’s acoustic character whether plugged in or not.
This Silverburst finish is now possible with a newly installed custom-color spray booth in Bozeman, Montana. Previously, it was not possible to have a metallic-finished acoustic guitar due to production limitations. Using the same materials and techniques used for Gibson Custom and Gibson electric guitars handcrafted in Nashville, Tennessee, this Silverburst finish serves as a connecting tissue between electric and acoustic guitars. The Silverburst finish is displayed on the top with the natural beauty of wood being showcased on the back and sides, and neck of the guitar.
This Gibson Custom Select J-45 Standard uses the recipe of the famous Gibson J-45 Standard with the sinister look of Silverburst. To top it off, the Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system is installed under the hood, translating the guitar’s natural sound directly to an audience. Included with the guitar is a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity and a hardshell case.
