Over the years, the Marauder has been used by artists from Adam Jones to Paul Stanley. This unique commemorative model pays tribute to the early days of Gibson’s Nashville production and celebrates Gibson’s 50 years of producing world-class guitars in Music City while delivering outstanding value to modern players. The lightweight, contoured body is solid poplar. The maple neck has a fast-playing and comfortable SlimTaper™ profile and is equipped with a striped ebony fretboard that is adorned with acrylic dot inlays and outfitted with 22 medium jumbo frets. The 12” fretboard radius makes first-position chords and string bends higher up the fretboard equally effortless. The hardware is chrome-plated, including the Nashville Tune-O-Matic™ bridge, aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners, and output jack plate cover. A black 5-ply pickguard holds two Gibson 70s Tribute humbucker™ pickups, which are wired to an intuitive and comfortable control layout consisting of master volume and master tone controls with black Top Hat knobs and a three-way pickup selector toggle switch. A premium soft shell case is included to keep the Les Paul Music City Special - 50th Anniversary safe when stored or in transport. He enjoyed sketching new instrument ideas during meetings, and the height of his creative output was in 1957 when he sought to modernize Gibson’s electric guitar designs significantly. On March 18, 1957, Ted detailed and signed his drawing for a new solid body instrument which was never produced until the Gibson Custom shop introduced a limited run of this model, named “Theodore” in honor of Ted, which was released on March 18, 2022 - exactly 65 years from the day that Ted originally sketched out the design. Since then, Gibson has also introduced a Theodore model as part of its USA-built core lineup.

Having created a single Theodore Retroliner model as part of one of his previous Master Artisan releases in cooperation with Gibson Custom, Master Artisan Leo Scala has now created a new series of ten Master Artisan interpretations of the Gibson Theodore™. Like their Leo Scala-crafted predecessor, each one is distinctive, individual, and absolutely one-of-a-kind. Leo took the Theodore and added his own creative touches to the design and created gorgeous works of art that are designed to play and sound as good as they look. He started by imagining that the Theodore was actually released in 1957 or 1958, and like some other Gibson models, was subtly revised and changed over the years with different pickup configurations and custom colors and then subjected to the finish and playing wear that comes with the longtime use of a well-loved guitar; thus creating the non-existent past of a vintage design–a contemporary of the Flying V and Explorer–that was never made until very recently.

Leo’s approach to their aesthetic was to combine classic looks with hot rod-inspired elements, along with the thoughtful details that are a hallmark of his work. The Theodore Retroliner – Pink Martini’s nitrocellulose lacquer finish was hand-applied and meticulously hand-aged by the Master Artisan, as was the aged hardware. He used classic and custom finish colors, relic treatments, and added his own unique artistic elements. Leo’s custom coloration process for the plastics actually infuses the color into the parts, so the colorations won’t rub off with use. McCarty’s original drawing inspired the pickguard shape. It incorporates elements of the ES-335 and Les Paul Special pickguards. It also brings a similarly angled accent to the Theodore Retroliner’s body that the angled scimitar headstock gives to the other end of the guitar.

The hot rod ethos applies to more than just appearances. Not only does Leo bring elements of the hot rod aesthetic to these Theodore Retroliners, but he also brings a hot rod-style performance approach to each guitar. The pickups–the engines of the Theodore Retroliners–are Leo Scala custom hand-wound “Retrophonic” models, with a Patent Applied For-style humbucker™ in the bridge position and a Soapbar P-90 in the neck. Each pickup is one-of-a-kind and unique, with different magnet types and strengths and differing amounts of winds on the bobbins, and each pickup pair was specifically made to work together; the middle position of each guitar has a unique sound, and both pickups, including the Retrophonic Soapbar P-90, are height-adjustable so that Leo could adjust their positions for optimal performance and tone. Each Theodore Retroliner is a unique guitar that won’t sound quite like any other guitar–including another Theodore or Theodore Retroliner.

Other performance enhancements include modifications to the ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Bigsby® B7 vibrato tailpiece. The bridge has a custom dog bone base that prevents it from moving when you use the Bigsby, and the Bigsby itself has been modified so that the arm can rotate fully, allowing you to position the vibrato arm over the strings so that you can palm and manipulate it while simultaneously picking. Additionally, the Bigsby B7 is mounted so that it is pulled out and angled at the back (where it’s rounded) so that you can use the end of the Bigsby as a stand.

Playability is crucially important to performance, and Leo made sure this Theodore Retroliner handles like a dream. The comfortable C-profile neck was shaped and rounded per Leo’s customizations to give it a well-played-in feel, and Leo’s custom oiled neck finish is incredibly smooth in the hand and fast-playing. While truly a work of art, this isn’t just a show guitar that is designed to sit in a display case; it’s meant to be used to make music, and considerable care has been given to optimize its sound, feel, and playability. This very special Master Artisan-built Theodore Retroliner – Pink Martini is a one-of-a-kind example of this exciting model.

The Theodore Retroliner – Classic Black’s nitrocellulose lacquer finish was hand-applied and meticulously hand-aged by the Master Artisan, as was the aged hardware.

This very special Master Artisan-built Theodore Retroliner – Classic Black is a one-of-a-kind example of this exciting model. The Theodore Retroliner – Custom 57’s nitrocellulose lacquer finish was hand-applied and meticulously hand-aged by the Master Artisan, as was the aged hardware.

This very special Master Artisan-built Theodore Retroliner – Custom 57 is a one-of-a-kind example of this exciting model.

King, and arguably, none was more legendary than his appearance at a music festival promoting the legendary “Rumble in the Jungle” heavyweight boxing match in Zaire in 1974, where B.B. played the 1974 ES-355 that he favored up until developing the Gibson Lucille model in 1980. This model is a limited edition of only 100 guitars and is a loving tribute to B.B.’s Walnut 1974 ES-355 that he used for that concert. The producers of Back to the Future took artistic liberty when they selected the Cherry Red model to use for filming, and historical accuracy aside, the guitar’s aesthetic seemed right at home in the film’s mid-50s Enchantment Under the Sea school dance scenes.

Now, Gibson Custom is proud to introduce the Back to the Future “1955" ES-345 Collector’s Edition, a stunning tribute to a classic guitar that transcends time. The mahogany neck has a long tenon and is attached with hide glue. It features a 1961 Authentic Thin D-Shape profile and is equipped with a bound rosewood fretboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and celluloid split parallelogram inlays. In a nod to the original guitar, which is the only known example from the era with a single parallelogram inlay at the 12th fret, the Back to the Future “1955" ES-345 Collector’s Edition also displays this rare feature. Powered by a pair of unpotted Gibson Custombucker pickups with Alnico 3 magnets, with each hand-wired to individual volume and tone controls with CTS® potentiometers and paper-in-oil tone capacitors, the Back to the Future “1955" ES-345 Collector’s Edition is also outfitted with a mono Varitone switch for added tonal versatility. The hardware is aged gold, as is befitting the upscale ES-345 model, including a Bigsby® B7 vibrato tailpiece. For more than six decades, the “Human Riff” has been the heartbeat of The Rolling Stones, inspiring millions of fans and musicians the world over to get out of their seats and rock ’n’ roll. It’s difficult to imagine the popular music landscape without the monolithic presence of Keith Richards looming over it with impossible cool, godlike nonchalance, and, of course, impeccable taste in guitars. Ask any guitarist which instrument of Keith’s they desire the most, and we’re willing to bet his black 1960 Gibson ES-355 is top of the list. Keith first used an ES-355 back in 1969, taking it out on the road and into the studio during the legendary recording sessions for Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main St. His black 1960 model has also been a staple of each and every planet-straddling Rolling Stones tour since 1997.

Now, Gibson Custom is proud to present the Keith Richards 1960 ES-355 Collector’s Edition guitar, an exacting replica of the Gibson ES-355™ he made famous. In celebration of that milestone and the introduction of these groundbreaking acoustic models, Gibson Custom is proud to introduce the L-1 Anniversary Limited Edition, a loving homage to those early Gibson flat-tops.

While it has been seen in the hands of numerous musicians, including Jeff Buckley, Scrapper Blackwell, Norman Blake, Hubert Sumlin, and Keith Richards, to name a few, the L-1 is probably most closely associated with legendary bluesman Robert Johnson, who, in one of the few authenticated photos of him, can be seen playing a sunburst L-1 with a 12-fret neck. With its small body, 12-fret neck, and distinctive tonal warmth, the L-1 is an ideal guitar for the blues. While it sounds great when played with a flatpick, it’s also an exceptional guitar for fingerstyle playing.

The L-1 Anniversary Limited Edition is crafted at the Gibson Custom Shop in Bozeman, Montana. It features the L-1’s distinctive body shape, crafted from solid mahogany for the back and sides, with a thermally aged red spruce top and scalloped x-bracing. The L-1 Anniversary Limited Edition is replete with cream binding, which appears on the top and back, along the sides of the ebony fretboard, as well as around the headstock perimeter. Even the sound hole edge features cream binding. The 25” scale mahogany neck joins the body at the 12th fret, has a Historic V profile, and is fitted with an ebony fretboard with 19 standard frets and dressed up with mother-of-pearl dot inlays. A quick note about the 12-fret neck: our current acoustic portfolio consists almost entirely of guitars with necks that join the body at the 14th fret for increased access, but when we invented many of our platforms 90-100 years ago, the necks joined the bodies at the 12th fret. Those instruments have become some of the most hallowed and collectible vintage examples, not because of their age or scarcity, but due to their sound. While the L-1 was offered with 12 and 14-fret necks during its original production run from 1926 to 1937, we selected a 12-fret neck for the L-1 Anniversary Limited Edition due to its outstanding sonic characteristics.

The L-1 Anniversary Limited Edition headstock features three-on-a-plate open-back tuners with cream buttons. It is equipped with a bone nut and ornamented with a vintage-style “The Gibson” logo inlaid in mother-of-pearl and a two-ply black and white truss rod cover that features the word “Anniversary” engraved in white. The rectangular, closed slot ebony bridge features carved pyramid wings and is equipped with a bone saddle and bridge pins.

With its abundant cream binding serving as a visual contrast to the deep, rich, and glossy Cremona Burst nitrocellulose lacquer finish on its distinctively shaped body, the L-1 Anniversary Limited Edition is sure to draw attention for its stunning looks as much as for its beautiful, 12-fret tone. But you’ll need to act fast to get one. Only 100 L-1 Anniversary Limited Edition guitars will be made as part of this very special limited-edition run, each packaged in an L-1 hardshell case, along with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The SG that fuels the voice of modern hard rock

Guitarist Jake Kiszka, co-founder of the rock ’n’ roll powerhouse Greta Van Fleet, has carved out a sound fueled by intensity, precision, and a deep commitment to creativity. The new Jake Kiszka SG Standard honors that heritage, a finely crafted blend of mahogany and metal brought to life in Nashville.

Created in limited numbers, this instrument pays homage to the legendary ’61 SG with its sculpted double-cutaway profile, pronounced bevels, and unmistakably vintage silhouette. Its SlimTaper™ mahogany neck invites fluid movement across a rosewood fretboard fitted with 22 medium jumbo frets and glowing acrylic trapezoid inlays. A Graph Tech® nut partners with Gibson Vintage Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons to deliver reliable tuning performance.

At the opposite end, the strings travel across an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic™ bridge for precise control over action and intonation, then secure to a stop tailpiece beneath a Sideways Vibrola™ cover. While the guitar mirrors the aesthetic of Jake’s original 1961 SG, affectionately known as the Beloved, the Vibrola assembly has been purposefully modified and locked. This keeps the classic visual element intact while functioning as a stable non-tremolo design. Once a tool for adventurous pitch effects, the fixed Vibrola now stands as a reminder of the instrument’s evolution and the pursuit of modern reliability.

The electronics depart slightly from those of an early-60s SG.
