Echoing the style of its Flying V™ counterpart, this 1958 Korina Explorer™ from Gibson Custom and the Murphy Lab reimagines the pioneering, futuristic Explorer design as a special order from its first year of release when Cherry and Ebony were the only custom-color options. This dream version is elegantly styled in Ebony with gold hardware and white plastics, giving it a sophisticated “tuxedo” look. It also marks the first production run since the original, highly limited Collector’s Edition batch of Korina reissues was launched in 2021 that Murphy Lab aging has been applied to Korina Explorer and Flying V models.
This classy Explorer features an ABR-1 bridge, a Lightweight Aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, and a 2-piece Korina body. It's equipped with unpotted Custombucker pickups, a Korina neck, and an Indian rosewood fretboard. The controls comprise two volumes and one tone with CTS® pots and a vintage-style “phone book” capacitor. It comes with a historically accurate case featuring a classic brown exterior and plush pink interior.
