Job Summary:

 

The Repair Operator (Repair & Restoration) is responsible for basic repairs of guitar issues from consumers. The role is a blend of craftsmanship, quality, and customer service and focuses on industry standards for repair and quality. A successful repair operator completes a quality repair in the expected time and provides thoughtful service to the consumer. 

 

The Repair & Restoration team is highly dependent on the efficient contribution of every team member. The repair operator position is the entry level role for the team, but performance in this role is key for the team’s overall success. In this role the operator will learn how to repair increasingly more difficult jobs with the objective of progression into the role of Repair Technician.  

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Perform restrings and setups (Electric and Acoustic)
  • Make and install new nuts.
  • Replace hardware.
  • Light electronic repairs
  • Level and dress frets
  • Package and ship guitars as needed.
  • Track time and material usages
  • Interface with R&R online tracking system
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

  • Ability to improve upon repair quality and speed to industry standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Solutions oriented approach to challenges/issues
  • Outstanding time management skill set with the ability to prioritize without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to have a flexible schedule, work evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Must be able to work in a loud environment for 8+ hours. 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Must have guitar playing experience. 
  • General knowledge of guitar components
  • Experience with repairing stringed instruments.
  • Experience as a guitar repair operator preferred.
  • Paint and lacquer experience a plus
  • Direct consumer experience a plus (some interaction may be needed)

 

 

Travel Requirements: 

 

  • Light travel as needed (local).

 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Standing and walking required 60% of the time. Bending and/or squatting required 20% of the time. Lifting required 20% of the time with a max weight of 50lbs.
