Job Summary: The Concept Artist is responsible for creating realistic, thorough concept artwork for guitars and other musical instruments based on a spec sheet and/or direction from product managers and collaborators. Reporting directly to the Head of Product Development, the Concept Artist will work cross-functionally with Entertainment Relations, Marketing and Manufacturing to ensure that the artwork reflects not only a creative vision but an accurate resource for future production. The ideal candidate is well-versed in stringed instruments, especially electric and acoustic guitars, and able to work from existing photography to develop a library of platforms and modular components.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Create realistic artwork for detailed musical instrument concepts.
  • Find and compile images of musical instrument parts, finishes and features as requested.
  • Extrapolate graphics, logos and components of main concept rendering into individual graphic files.
  • Demonstrate post-production, image resizing, photo retouching, clipping and quality control abilities for all photography.
  • Create and maintain all design templates for HQ requirements and standardization and consistency across all brands.
  • Manage multiple agencies and other external partners in the development and execution of project deliverables while meeting timing, budget, and quality expectations.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to work in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Adhere to requested deadlines and produce quality results quickly.
  • Strong photo retouching skills.
  • Flawless attention to detail and organizational skills when working with large number of files/assets.
  • Experience in asset management process and high-volume projects and delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, creative problem solver able to work independently.
  • Strong knowledge of design principles, typography, user interfaces, web standards and usability.

 

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Graphic Design or equivalent degree or related work experience
  • 3+ years of experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and illustrator
  • Must have guitar knowledge - key skills in scale, structure, style
  • Fluency in guitar/stringed instruments a must
