Emmylou Harris tours in support of new album "Stumble Into Grace"
Grammy Award-winning artist takes Gibson Signature L-200 on the road
Eleven-time Grammy Award recipient Emmylou Harris has embarked on an extended North American tour in support of Stumble Into Grace, her latest album on Nonesuch Records. Harris travels and performs with her Gibson L-200 Emmylou Harris model, a smaller-bodied version of the Gibson SJ-200 that she's been so closely identified with throughout her career. The Gibson Montana (acoustic) division designed the guitar to meet an artist's performance and travel demands.
"I love the size of this guitar," Emmylou said of her new model. "It's a great guitar to have in your bedroom or down in your music room. It's great to grab when you have an idea and want to work something out."
The Gibson L-200 Emmylou Harris model features a thin L-series body design that is smaller than the SJ-200 and equipped with a Schertler Bluestick transducer pickup system to produce a powerful, natural sound. The guitar has a solid Sitka spruce top with scalloped bracing, flamed maple back and sides, bound rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl crown inlays, pearl-inlaid Moustache bridge and classic engraved pickguard.

"Emmylou Harris is one of the most important artists of our time, and we're proud of the role Gibsons have played in her music," said Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibson Chairman and CEO. "We're excited to be her partner as she continues to make great music in the years to come."

Emmylou's association with Gibson dates back to her duets in the early 1970s with country-rock pioneer Gram Parsons, whose 1960s J-200 she still owns. Her black J-200 with a red rose custom-inlaid in the top graced the cover of her 1979 album Blue Kentucky Girl and her custom-painted pink J-200 captured the essence of her 1985 album The Ballad of Sally Rose.
Harris' album Stumble Into Grace follows her Nonesuch debut Red Dirt Girl, which won a Grammy Award and was the artist's best-selling album in 20 years. Both albums are produced by Malcomb Burn and show Harris working in a sonic landscape far removed from her more traditional recordings of the 1970s and '80s. Her sophisticated songwriting adds an additional dimension to her music - this is the only the third time Harris has written the lion's share of the songs for an album. Longtime collaborator and friend Linda Ronstadt sings on "Strong Hand" dedicated to the late June Carter Cash. Kate and Anna McGarrigle sing on both the traditional "Plaisir d'Amour" and "Little Bird," which they cowrote with Harris. "I Will Dream" features Jane Siberry, who also sings on "Lost Unto This World." Julie Miller sings on "Here I Am," and Jill Cuniff of Luscious Jackson cowrote "Time in Babylon."
