Riggs wins his third Les Paul trophy guitar at Nashville Superspeedway
Busch Series racer Scott Riggs won it all last Saturday night at the Nashville Superspeedway- victory in the Trace Adkins Chrome 300, the Busch Series points lead and the Gibson Custom Les Paul trophy guitar. With the guitar came a promise of six-string lessons from country star Trace Adkins in return for driving lessons for the country singer.
Riggs won for the second consecutive year in the Busch race and won the Superspeedway truck race in 2001. That's three Gibson Custom guitars in his trophy case.
Gibson Custom collaborated with celebrated motorsports artist Sam Bass to produce its first NASCAR-themed racing guitar in early 1999 - the Dale Earnhardt "Intimidator" Les Paul. Since then the Custom Shop and Bass have created all Superspeedway trophy guitars since its inaugural 2001 season as well as the NASCAR Dale Earnhardt Jr. Les Paul.
In a night of firsts, driver Charlie Bradberry won his first pole position and took home his first Gibson, winning the Sunbelt Rentals 125 in the first race of the night.
