Baldwin part of Starry Nights jazz concerts at NY American Museum of Natural History

A Baldwin Model R1 Artist Grand will set the stage for the American Museum of Natural Historys "Starry Nights" series of live jazz concerts in Manhattan. Performances by some of the worlds most talented musicians are featured the first Friday of every month beginning March 7 in the Museums Rose Center for Earth and Space, with one-hour sets at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Renowned saxophonist Virginia Mayhew kicks off the series with her Group featuring Ingrid Jensen, Harvie Swartz, Allison Miller and special guest. Mayhew, a skilled arranger and educator, has been a part of the New York jazz scene for the past 17 years. In 1987, she won the New School's Jazz Performance programs first annual Zoot Sims Memorial Scholarship and relocated from San Francisco. She has worked with such renowned artists as trumpeter Rebecca Franks, Norman Simmons, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Joe Williams and many others.

WBGO Jazz 88 with Gary Walker will broadcast the 5:30 p.m. segments live beginning April 4. The concerts are free with suggested Museum admission.
