Alexander Voishvillo, an internationally recognized authority on loudspeaker engineering, will join Gibson Labs, the technology division of Gibson Guitar Corp. The Russian-born scientist holds several patents and is the author of numerous publications, including a book on loudspeaker design and theory.

"We are developing world-class audio products at Gibson Labs, and Alexander Voishvillo is one of the most knowledgeable loudspeaker designers in the world," said Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibson chairman and CEO. "We are looking forward to making huge waves - audio waves - with Alexander on the Gibson Labs team."

"Gibson has a combination of tradition and vision that few companies can offer," Voishvillo said. "Gibson Labs' dedication to the discovery and development of new technologies has created the kind of environment every engineer and research scientist wants to be a part of."

Voishvillo was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia, and was granted U.S. permanent residency in 1996 as an essential technical specialist in the field of loudspeakers. From 1977 to 1995 he worked at the Popov Institute for Radio and Acoustics and designed loudspeaker systems and studio monitors. There he designed new transducers and systems and did research on nonlinearity in sound systems and advanced methods to measure nonlinearity. As Director of Electroacoustical Research and Development at Cerwin-Vega, Voishvillo was granted several patents on new transducers.

He is a member of the Audio Engineering Society and the Standards Committee of the AES, and he has contributed four articles to the Journal of the AES.
