Les Paul's 9/11 Gibson guitar on display at Madison Square Garden

Legendary guitarist and innovator Les Paul has donated one of his personal Gibson Les Paul model guitars to raise funds for the Uniformed Firefighters' Association Widows and Children Fund. Peter Ortel, a retired New York City fireman from Rescue 3, painted the poignant September 11 scenes and the 9/11 Les Paul is now on display in the lobby of Madison Square Garden in New York City, in a Gibson security display case. The guitar will be auctioned later this Fall through eBay to raise funds for the families of our fallen heroes. Stay tuned to gibson.com for the date and time of the eBay auction.

Pop superstar Marc Anthony, Sony Music Entertainment Chairman/CEO and Gibson board member Thomas Mottola, and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg are pictured holding the 9/11 guitar at the press conference to announce the return of the 45th Annual Grammy Awards to New York City on February 23, 2003.
