Gibson/Baldwin All-Star Music Bash raises funds for Cystic Fibrosis, hopes for cure

Country and pop artists rallied for the 2nd annual Gibson/Baldwin All-Star Music Bash benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation last night, October 1. Country artists Emerson Drive, Keith Urban, Clint Black, legendary guitarist Steve Cropper, and pop star Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees entertained with hit singer/songwriter and co-chair Richard Marx joining the musicians on guitar and piano for select songs. Marx sang a verse of Cropper's soulful gem "Dock of the Bay" as well as his own hit "Right Here Waiting."

A highlight of the evening was 10-year-old CF patient Charlie Coffey's performance on an Epiphone Les Paul PeeWee. In exchange for a majority of the audience agreeing to a donation, Charlie picked out "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and "Old McDonald Had A Farm" to the delight of the crowd. Charlie also received a Les Paul Studio autographed by all the evening's artists. The guitar was purchased during the live auction and the winning bidder graciously gave it to him as a gift. A Jimmy Page autographed Les Paul Standard was also auctioned. Lisa Hartman Black won the bidding for a Wurlitzer grand piano played by Marx during the evening. Other items included packages to see magician David Copperfield, to attend the upcoming Country Music Awards, and to spend a day on the set with the cast of TV sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond." Sheet music for Alan Jackson's song "Where Were You," autographed by Jackson, sparked spirited bidding.

The festivities included both silent and a live auctions at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville.

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic lung and digestive disease affecting over 30,000 children and adults in the United States. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation funds research for the development of new drugs to fight the disease and the search for a cure. The cost of developing a single new drug is estimated at more than $300 million. Visit www.cff.org for more information.
