2002 Handy Awards: And the winner is . . .

The venerable B.B. King, Texas chanteuse Marcia Ball and the powerful Otis Taylor led the blues parade at the 2002 W.C. Handy Awards Thursday night in Memphis at the historic Orpheum Theater. New Orleans icon Dr. John hosted the show at a custom Beale Street Blue Baldwin piano. Go here to see the complete winners list.

The Handy Awards VIP pre-party at the Gibson Beale Street Showcase kick-started the 23rd annual celebration presented by Gibson Guitar and Baldwin Piano. Gibson and Baldwin Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz welcomed the nominees, the Blues Foundation and guests to the annual gala. The party featured impromptu performances by several nominees.
