Customized Baldwins part of Wheel of Fortune and History Channels Save Our Sounds campaign
A Jubilee Red Custom Baldwin Model 243HPA vertical piano will be awarded as a prize on the eternally popular game show Wheel of Fortune when contestants compete from the Nashvilles Opryland Hotel and Grand Ole Opry in January. The piano will be given away when the show is taped from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry Jan. 8. The Opry is the worlds longest-running radio program, having celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2000. Nashvilles finest country music stars perform live on the show weekly. A Gibson guitar will be given away during a taping Jan. 7 at the Opryland Hotels Delta Jazz Lounge.

A one-of-a-kind handpainted Baldwin M1 Artist Grand was donated to The History Channels "Save Our Sounds" campaign. The piano is an original created by psychedelic artist Peter Max at his NYC studios, and the entire case of the piano has been transformed into a Max original, sporting a color scheme of red, yellow and green. Max put his signature along side the Baldwin logo. The M1 is being auctioned on eBay to raise funds for the Smithsonian Institution and Library of Congress folklife offices ongoing work to preserve over 100 years of audio archives literally tens of thousands of endangered sound recordings that chronicle the history of America. These recordings are stored on cylinders, discs and tapes and are deteriorating rapidly. A number of autographed Gibson guitars are also being auctioned. Bids are being taken through Jan. 2, 2003. Dont miss the one-hour documentary, Save Our History, Save Our Sounds on The History Channel, which airs Thursday, Dec. 26 at 8 p.m. ET.
