Win jazz guitar hero Lee Ritenour's new CD, Rit's House

Jazz guitar hero Lee Ritenour is set to release his landmark 30th solo recording, Rit's House (GRP), early next month. The new set is a forward-thinking and inspired fusion of traditional and contemporary jazz, flavored with Lee's love for R&B, '60s and '70s soul-jazz, Brazilian, and world music. Now you can enter to win a free Rit's House CD from Gibson Custom. Go here to enter now. One winner will be chosen every day starting today, August 20, through Tuesday, September 3. That's 15 winners groovin' at Rit's House.
Ritenour, a long-time Gibson player, owns a vintage 1950 L-5 and Gibson Custom L-5 Signature. The L-5 Signature is a scaled down version of the classic L-5 CES yet retains all the looks and appointments of the original with an ebony fingerboard, inlaid ebony bridge, AAA maple back and sides, spruce top and gold hardware. While the smaller body lends itself to more comfortable playing, the classic tone remains uncompromised.
Rit's House features Lee's "wish list" of players including longtime collaborators keyboardist George Duke on keyboards and bassist Marcus Miller as well as new collaborators Joey DeFrancesco on B3-organ and vocalist Michael McDonald.
It's always seemed to me that the industry has created too much of a division between straight-ahead acoustic jazz and the funky fusion I also love," says Ritenour. "The idea behind Rit's House is creating a collective expression of both of these types of music, reconciling the two while incorporating some of the Brazilian styles I've also enjoyed exploring. There's a vintage, classic old school soul-jazz approach which captures my influences and many of my unique experiences."
Ritenour has worked with such artists as The Mamas & The Papas, Tony Bennett, Barbara Streisand, Quincy Jones, Dizzy Gillespie, B. B. King, and Jaco Pastorius. In addition to being a much sought after producer, he is a founding member of Fourplay, one of the most successful groups in contemporary jazz history.
