Corporate bands live the rock dream
Have you ever dreamed of rock stardom and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
For one magic night ten "corporate" bands from Wall Street to Silicon Valley lived the dream at the inaugural Battle of the Corporate Bands held Saturday at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH., an event co-sponsored by Gibson and hosted by Fortune magazine .
The Difference from Air Products and Chemicals Inc. won as best band and were presented a 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue that they signed and will be displayed at the Rock Hall of Fame.
Other performing corporate bands included The Flying Other Brothers (Integral Capital Partners, Chase/Hambrecht & Quist, and other firms), The Raving Daves (PeopleSoft); Parts Rock & Accessories Roll Band (Harley Davidson ), The Difference (Air Products & Chemicals, Inc.), DC-Nine (Deloitte Consulting), Off Wall Street Jam Band (a combo of executives from Merrill Lynch and other Wall Street firms); The Briggs Bluesbusters (Briggs & Stratton); The Prowlers (Fortune); The James O Band (McKinsey Consulting) and Marsh Blues Brokers (Marsh & McLennan).
The panel of judges included Seymour Stein, Chairman of London-Sire Records, and Tom Zito, CEO of Garageband, Inc. Fortune editor-at-large Andy Serwer was master of ceremonies for the evening.
