Gibson stars and guitars rock Arlington Guitar Show
By Geoff Clarke for gibsoncustom.com
Loaded to the roof with over seventy artist guitars, concept guitars, one-of-a-kinds, and a dizzying assortment of Custom, Art, & Historic masterpieces, the Gibson Custom Traveling Exhibit rolled through the Arlington Guitar Show Oct. 20-21 in Arlington, Texas.
In addition, the Traveling Exhibit was well stocked with Trace Eliot amps. Kid Rocks guitar monster, Kenny Olson, was the special guest at the Custom Traveling Exhibit, and wowed show attendees (as well as patrons at a late night jam session) with his chops on a Historic58 Les Paul Custom Authentic Reissue.
Although the Arlington Guitar Show has traditionally been the biggest vintage guitar show of the year, one of the highlights of this years show was something new- the Gibson Montana Traveling Exhibit. The baby brother of our Custom Traveling Exhibit made its debut before a weekend crowd of well over 5,000 dealers and attendees.
With an arsenal of over twenty prime Montana acoustics and a special weekend-long appearance by Tony King (of Brooks & Dunn), the new trailer made quite an impression. By the way, Tony couldnt get enough of the Brazilian rosewood Montana Advanced Jumbo he played throughout the event. Tony plays a Gibson Dwight Yoakam Y2K model when on tour with Brooks and Dunne. For you acoustic pickers, the limited edition guitar AJ or the Y2K are available from the Montana Custom Shop via your local dealer.
Promoter Ruth Brinkman was extremely pleased with the show in general and Gibson in particular. Public attendance was up this year, and most dealers reported sales as good or better than last year. And as for Gibson? Were very picky about who we have, says Brinkman, but both trucks were a real asset to the show.
