Flags fly over Gibson Custom
By Geoff Clarke for gibsoncustom.com
As the events of 9/11 burn in our consciousness, many of us have asked,
what can we do to help?
The Gibson Custom, Art, & Historic
division decided to do what it does best--create special guitars. In addition
to resurrecting the American map guitar of the early '80s, Gibson Custom
has also recently produced a small number of Stars and Stripes Les Pauls
and ES-175s to honor the heroes and victims of Septembers events.
To learn how you can help heroes and victims of 9/11, go
here.
The music and entertainment communities have shown their support by
participating in the America:
A Tribute to Heroes telethon as well as the Concert
for New York (held in the City) and United
We Stand (in Washington D.C.) concert.
Gibson Custom fave Kix Brooks used a Stars and Stripes Les Paul on the Country Music Awards show which also featured a Stars and Stripes Super Goldtone GA-30RVH amp a few weeks back. During a tour stop in Nashville, Aerosmiths Joe Perry dropped by the Custom Shop to pick out a Stars and Stripes Les Paul to use at the D.C. benefit show. We also recently shipped a one-of-a-kind Stars and Stripes SG to Kid Rock to use on his upcoming tour.
