Epiphone to defy Gravity

Epiphone will join 250 world-class action sports athletes and thousands of fans tomorrow in Providence, Rhode Island, for the third annual Gravity Games. The week-long Gravity Games capture the lifestyle of alternative sports as athletes from 17 countries compete in 16 events, including bike, aggressive inline skating, skateboarding, downhill skateboarding, street luge, wakeboarding and freestyle motocross.

Epiphone will co-sponsor the Games and host a booth on site. The winners of four "best trick" events will take home a limited edition Epiphone Les Paul Gravity Games trophy guitar. In the booth, spectators and contestants can test drive a bevy of new Epiphones including the high energy E Series instruments. Three official replica Epiphone Gravity Games Les Pauls will be given away during the festivities.

Says Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson, "The launch of the E Series is an important milestone in the hundred-year history of Epiphone, resulting in an exciting new direction for the company. By updating classic instruments with the hottest electronics, dramatic finishes, string-through body designs, and new headstocks and logos, as well as designing completely new and exclusive instruments, Epiphone's new "E Series" will prove to be perfect for today's young musicians looking for high energy sound with fashionable looks to match."

The Gravity Games run September 1-9. Epiphone.com and gibson.com will bring you exclusive, on site coverage of the Gravity Games in September.

The Gravity Games announced yesterday the The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Smash Mouth and Lit will headline free concerts during the final weekend of competition.

The Games and finals will be broadcast Sundays on NBC-TV nationwide beginning September 30 and running through November 25 as well on the College Television Network.
