Win an ES-135 and George Thorogood Anthology from Guitar World
Win a genuine Gibson
ES-135 and the new two-CD Anthology from rockin' blues guitar hero George Thorogood. Check out the current
issue of Guitar World magazine and find the entry form. Fill it
out and send it in. That's it. The contest is on now and ends November 15.
In the same issue read the "Ax Museum"--a historical and musical overview
of guitar great and Elvis sideman Scotty Moore,
including licks, techniques, and assorted Gibson guitars. His first Gibson
was a goldtop ES-295
purchased in 1953. He later traded that in for a Gibson L--5 that
he played until 1957 when he switched to the Gibson Super 400 he
used on Elvis' "Jailhouse Rock" and other classic recordings. Interestingly,
he sold that instrument for $80. It sold again at auction this year for
over $100,000. Most recently he's been playing a Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman.
Thorogood and his
band, The Destroyers rocked hard through the '80's on the strength of
numerous Gold albums and the hits "Bad to the Bone", "Willie and the Hand
Jive", "Who Do You Love?", and more. Go to Thorogood's site here. Visit Guitar World
online here. See the Thorogood's versatile Gibson
ES-135 here.
