Voodoo Music Festival gears up for Big Easy Halloween celebration

That voodoo they do so well.

Call it Woodstock, Big Easy style. The second Voodoo Music Festival, scheduled for Oct. 28 at New Orleans City Park's Marconi Meadow and Scout Island, boasts nearly a dozen modern rock and rap heavyweights, including Stone Temple Pilots , Eminem, Counting Crows, Live, 311, Blues Traveler, Ben Harper, Guster, Galactic, and Cypress Hill. Tickets for the all day, multi-stage festival are $24.50 and are on sale now at www.voodoomusicfest.com and Ticketmaster or by calling 504-522-5555.

Those who cannot make the trip to New Orleans can catch all the action on www.voodoomusicfest.com, www.rollingstone.com, or www.icast.com -- all of whom will be webcasting from each of the three stages.

The Gibson Custom, Art & Historic division's Traveling Exhibit will do the Voodoo that day with a trailer full of treasures from Gibson's master artisans. Stop by and tell 'em gibson.com sent you. Set amongst the tall oaks and spooky swamps of New Orleans' City Park, Voodoo Music Festival will present three stages of music throughout the park, along with an activity-filled interactive village and a vendor village for concertgoers to explore for a complete New Orleans Halloween weekend celebration.

"New Orleans' rich and very unique heritage presented the perfect setting for this new kind of music festival -- created for the sole purpose of worshipping and celebrating music," say the festival organizers." Mixing Caribbean, European, and American traditions, the city is a world of its own. Aptly named, Voodoo brings a transforming, spiritual, and powerful musical happening. . . Envisioned as a festival that would become an annual event, this year's concert is being taken a step further, promising to be bigger in spirit and scope."

A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to PAX - The Movement to End Gun Violence and their student activist network, PAX Students. For more information on PAX, send an e-mail to info@paxstudents.org or to sign their Youth Petition To End Gun Violence, visit www.paxpetition.org .
