Les Paul Classic Plus powers up Duran Duran's Pop Trash

International pop monsters Duran Duran are riding high again with the Summer 2000 release of Pop Trash. Famed guitarist Warren Cuccurullo powers up the trio with his new Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus. Cuccurullo previously played with both Steve Vai and Missing Persons.

Gibson.com's DigitalBoy recently caught Cuccurullo and his favorite new guitar behind the scenes of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Duran Duran were high on the charts and all over MTV throughout the Eighties and emerged again in 1993 when the band returned from a prolonged hiatus with a mature, layered record of lite funk and soulful adult contemporary pop that became a surprise hit. "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone" became Top Ten hits in America, with the former reaching the Top Ten in the UK as well; the album itself climbed into the Top Ten on both continents and went platinum in America. Not only did the record restore their commercial status, but it earned them some of their best reviews of their career.

With a carved AA maple top the Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus features Gibson's famous 1960 Les Paul Standard "slim taper" neck. Changing in thickness only about a tenth of an inch from the first fret to the twelfth and maintaining a precisely controlled width to thickness ratio, the "slim taper" neck promotes speed while reducing player fatigue. For this reason, many players consider the 1960 "slim taper" neck the best Les Paul neck ever made. Go here to check out the Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus.
