To kickoff Slash's Snakepit's debut release, Ain't Life Grand, rollingstone.com, Gibson USA, and Koch Records are giving away a Gibson Les Paul Standard, the "Grand" CD, and Snakepit poster all signed by Slash. "I called Snakepit into life simply for the fun of playing," says Slash. Go here to enter the contest.
Guitarist Slash (born Saul Hudson in Stoke - On - Trent, England, in 1965) is perhaps best known as the big - haired, top - hatted guitarist for Guns 'N Roses from 1985 until 1996. Says All Music Guide critic Steve Huey, "As the lead guitarist for Guns 'N' Roses, Slash established himself as one of hard rock's finest and most soulful soloists during the late '80s, technically adept yet always firmly grounded in the gritty Aerosmith and Stones licks he loved."
Slash formed the Snakepit in 1999 with former G 'N R keyboardist Teddy Andreadis, vocalist Rod Jackson, bassist Johnny Griparic, guitarist Kerry Kelly, and drummer Matt Laug. The group signed with Koch Records, who released their album, Ain't Life Grand, this month. Go here to dive into Slash's Snakepit. Guitar legend Les Paul and Gibson teamed up in 1952 to produce the guitar that set the standard for solidbody electrics. In the 1990s Gibson and Les Paul still enjoy the most successful endorsement agreement in the history of the guitar, and the Gibson Les Paul Standard is still the Industry Standard. The guitar features a set-in bound neck, carved maple top, single-cutaway mahogany bound body, dual humbuckers, three-way toggle, an adjustable tune-o-matic bridge, and versatile, monstrous tone.
